Published February 8, 2008 biggest loser , junior high ministry , sports Leave a CommentI just can’t do the calorie counting thing. It is just too difficult. I am just eating less and really trying to pay attention to my stomach telling me when I need to give it something. I also could not go to the gym today, however I did take my kids sledding and walked up a big hill 6 times. So I guess that is something.
Tomorrow, we are having a father/student night with our JH/SH dad’s taking their kid to the Timberwolves game. At the end of the end they are having a pastor’s game on the Target center floor and I will be in the game. It should be fun. (embarrassing) My friend Erik is playing with me, and he really has some b-ball skills. Regardless, I should get some going cardio doing that tomorrow night. I am thinking about looking like this (below) on the Target Center floor tomorrow. I think it would be pretty funny to dress up.

Iowa Hawkeyes vs N Illinois- My Kind of Town Video
Published September 7, 2007 Hawkeyes , sports , video Leave a CommentThis is a beautiful thing. I love this time of year! Way to go Lon over at Hawkeyecast. I hope to see more like this.

Yesterday we headed to the Twin Cities to look at a few homes that we thought could be a good deal. We also wanted to take some time to go to some open houses and just see what was out there. As we were driving around I noticed the air conditioning on our van stopped. Then the power windows stopped, and then the blinkers stopped working. Finally, the van stopped accelerating. Breakdown! Crap!
So I started calling around for a tow. One of the places I called told me everyone was closed till Tuesday for the holiday weekend. Double Crap! Fortunately, I found a Firestone that was open till 6:00pm.
I called my dad and he thought it was the alternator. Triple Crap! One of those cost around $300. Sure enough it was the alternator. Thank goodness they got an alternator in about 15 minutes and it sent over to the shop. That was amazingly fast! They put it in and discovered that the alternator fried the battery! Another $100. So when it all came down to it with tow, diagnostic, and parts it was a grand total of $700. Ouch!
So then we went to the two house showings we had set up and discovered the places were complete dumps.
After that some friends picked up R. and I and we went to the Minnesota vs. Bowling Green game. I did cheer for the Gophers because they are Big Ten, but I secretly wanted Bowling Green to win. BG did win and it was a fabulous 34-32 Overtime win. Iowa won which is all that really matters.
